Doom is an upcoming title set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Although it has not been officially confirmed, it appears Microsoft and Bethesda Studios will once again use its older titles as a way to entice people to preorder on Xbox One. While the Xbox One is no stranger to having backwards compatible games listed as a preorder bonus. If you remember Just Cause 2 was given as a bonus for Just Cause 3 and recently announced Darks Souls would be available with the purchase of Dark Souls III. Bethesda Studios is also no stranger to giving one of their older related titles away with their games as well. Fallout 3 was recently used to entice people to preorder Fallout 4 on the Xbox One console.
It was recently discovered on Reddit that Doom was available for preorder on Xbox One in the Australian Xbox Store for a brief period of time. A cached version of the preorder page was captured showing the titles available as a preorder bonus for Bethesda’s upcoming title Doom thanks to Game Informer.
Although this has not been confirmed at this point, a similar posting was sited for Dark Souls III in which it showed Dark Souls as a preorder bonus and was quickly taken down, only later to be confirmed as true. So it is safe to say there could be some great validity in this cached image showing the preorder bonus.
Look out for more information to follow regarding this as more information surfaces. I have reached out to Bethesda Studios and have not received any word back to confirm nor deny this. Doom is set to release in May 2016 and should be available for digital preorder on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC sometime in the near future.
