Hitman Confirmed To Be An Episodic Game; Collectors Edition Confirmed

Even though Square Enix & Io Interactive insisted that Hitman would be a full game, it turns out that newly releasing Hitman will be in fact an Episodic Title.

The game will be released into episodes throughout the year, the prologue and first mission is still planned to release on PS4, Xbox One & PC on March 11th. But the content that was previously promised in Morroco and Italy(Source: Gamespot)for launch will now be coming in April for the Italy mission, and May for the Morroco mission.

After that, Io Interactive has more planned with “regular content updates” that slates by the end of 2016 with new settings for more missions in the United States, Thailand & Japan. With additions of missions being added there. Io Interactive states that they’ll be adding “weekly live events” and other additional content in between bigger updates that’ll be coming.

“We decided to take the full leap and publish Hitman as a truly episodic game experience,”

Stated Io Interactive Boss Hannes Seifert. Then followed up with this statement.

“Part of that decision is for that little bit of extra time to ensure every location we release is at the quality level fitting for a Hitman game. But the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future–this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games.”

Hitman will still be releasing as a digital title initially with a physical version releasing at the end of the year. The full digital version will cost $60 dollars, or you can get the prologue and the paris missions, Which is known as the intro pack for $15 dollars. Later locations will be added on which you can buy for $10 dollars single handedly, or will be added on for $50 dollars later on.

There’s also a set of PS4-exclusive content in the form of The Sarajevo Six. This consists of six additional missions, one set in each of the game’s locations. Io describes this as a “self-contained side story” that “sees Agent 47 travel the world in pursuit of six former members of a paramilitary unit called CICADA.”

The beta is still slated to release in February with it first starting on Feb 12th for PS4 players. Then Feb 19th for PC players. Beta access is guaranteed by purchasing the intro pack or preordering the full game.

Lastly, Io confirmed the releasing of a collector’s edition, which was designed with fan feedback. It’ll be available on March 11 alongside the Intro pack and consists of a digital copy of the full game, a 10-inch Agent 47 statue, an art book, and a tie and clip set. It’ll cost $140.
