Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that the pricing for the Switch’s online gaming service will be priced at 2,000-3,000 Yen ($17.50 – $26.50) annually. Mr. Kimishima said the annual fee would help Nintendo support online features like multiplayer or digital download of classic games.
“With paid [services], we will be able to fully commit to customers,” said Nintendo President Kimishima.
Besides being lower than PlayStation Network and Xbox Live respectively, little is known on Nintendo Switch’s online offerings and features. Launch games for the Nintendo Switch such as Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will offer multiplayer gameplay. Nintendo also announced during the Switch’s reveal in January that its latest console will have free online functionality until this fall.
