Top 5 Upcoming Games of August

It’s time gamers, the time of the year where there are too many games coming out and not enough time or money to play them all!

August isn’t normally associated with the crazy months of late September-November as far as amount of heavy hitting titles go, but I wanted to compile a list of games I feel are the start of the season. These 5 games should be on your radar in the month of September.

Number 5 – Madden NFL 17

No, this is not the actual cover for Madden 17…but it should be ! #GoBills *These words do not reflect the entire opinion of Hard Knock Gamers, only mine personally*

OK, since we got that out of the way, the reason Madden is first on our list is because the new iteration in the series comes out August of every year. Madden NFL 16 might have been one of the best of the series we have had in recent memory, so if EA can improve upon from last year in any way at all, it’s going to be another great year for football fans(No I don’t mean soccer). EA’s big focus this year has been redesigning the running game. Next on the list of improvements is that EA has been working closely on adding a lot more to Franchise Mode, the presentation has gotten a complete overhaul, and finally the addition to Madden 365 which brings more content throughout the NFL season straight to Madden. Madden NFL 17 releases August 23rd.

Number 4 – Batman: The Telltale Series

We have seen quite a few trailers and game play features on Telltale’s next episodic adventure, and it’s looking to be the grandest of them all. One feature worth mentioning is the new multiplayer focused features. You will be able to play the game along side up to 2,000 other people watching you and playing along. Their role is going to be making the choices for your very own Bruce Wayne. Two modes will be in this feature: Majority Rules and Complete Control. Majority Rules has the crowd all voting in, which ever choice has the most votes is what will automatically be selected. The other mode Complete Control, has everyone voting for a certain choice but the player is allowed to pick whichever choice they feel is best suited themselves. We haven’t seen much on the combat, I guess we will just have to wait until Batman: The Telltale Series glides in with Episode 1 on August 2nd.

Number 3 – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Taking place two years after where the latest entry Human Revolution ended off, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided comes in to try and win over Action RPG players once again. “The year is 2029, and mechanically augmented humans have now been deemed outcasts, living a life of complete and total segregation from the rest of society.  Now an experienced covert operative, Adam Jensen is forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.” With Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, make sure you are in for a wild ride of single player greatness with top of the line combat, hacking, stealth, and RPG mechanics. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided hits stores on August 23rd.

Number 2 – World of Warcraft: Legion

With talk of Blizzard losing millions of subscribers each year for their MMO powerhouse World of Warcraft, it might be make it or break it time. Legion will be trying to bring in some new players into the world of Azeroth, while also giving something new for the old timers of the biggest Multiplayer game out for the past 12 years (Wow…12 years already). In this expansion, the biggest news would be Blizzard adding in a brand new class- Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter was one of my favorite heroes to play with out of the old Warcraft RTS games about a decade and a half ago,  so this has definitely gotten me excited to jump back in. A new zone- The Broken Isles will also be something for everyone new and old to experience together with hundreds of new quests. More features worth noting are: Level cap raised to 110, new world bosses to fight, being able to explore and conquer new raids/dungeons, and they will also allow you to level a character straight to level 100. World of Warcraft: Legion will be coming out August 30th.

Number 1 – No Man’s Sky

Did you really think you would go through an entire upcoming August release list without seeing this game? Fans have been waiting for this game for what seems like ages. With it’s million, quintillion, billion, zillion, gigantillion planets this game was announced with….No Man’s Sky is officially coming(unless ANOTHER delay happens). Marketed as “A science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy”, it’s all about exploring in this one. The developers even stated, you will not be able to see everything this game has to offer…it’ll take too many years and is just not possible. Many people ran with this statement in excitement, but for me, left me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. There will be plenty(gigantillion, million, etc. you get the point) of planets that are copied and pasted with maybe just a different shade of color to them to make them “different”. With all that being said, this game for good reason is mine, and many others most anticipated game…at least for August of 2016. No Man’s Sky will be flying it soon to Playstation 4 on August 9th, and PC August 12th.

There are plenty of titles other than these coming in August we’re looking forward to as well but we only chose our most anticipated 5. I would love to hear in the comments below your top 5 for August 2016. As always…to discuss more about these games and more, follow us on Twitter @HardKnockGamers or join us in our Facebook group Hard Knock Gamers, the best place to be for ALL games on ALL platforms.
